Labor Speaks – Staples Boycott

DontBuy_EasyButton

A year ago, the AFL/CIO joined the APWU in their Boycott of Staples. If you don’t know the issue, it’s really pretty simple. Staples, through the USPS, has opened postal counters in 80 of their stores staffed by Staples employees rather than highly-trained, uniformed U.S. Postal Service employees. The Postal Service and Staples hope to expand the program to all of Staples’ 1,500 U.S. stores. Full time Staples employees earn about $18,000 per year and receive little training on how to handle the mail. The support of the AFL/CIO’s 56 unions and 12.5 million members will strengthen this boycott.
